At all times, you have access to depths of wealth that is the Self. Meditation can lead us into rarified states where powerful things can happen. Our breath is not just air, and meditation is not just sitting.

For millenia, people have just sat and breathed air. And while engaged, they did something interesting with their attention. They focused it. They suffused it into their breath, into their flesh, into their thoughts, and they spread it. They sought to learn every inch of their infinite mind.

In doing so, many variations of meditation arose, each with a different method and a different effect. Certain principles of mind tend to overlap. And many of the different methods lead to results so profound in the moment that they begin to reverberate throughout life.

For many, the first profound step is what a peaceful or still mind even feels like. This can really change our perception of the world and how we act in it. The difference might be between a snow globe where everything has gently settled, showing a pretty picturesque scene in clear still water versus angry toddler thrashing the same snow globe about to-and-fro and throwing it so it breaks against the wall and cracks.

When you come from a place of true peace, you are unmovable. The globe, your world, cannot be picked up, cannot be jostled.

And this stillness is just the beginning work.

There are so many more paths and avenues of you to explore.

Some meditations lead to different physical states. Some lead to different mind states. Some lead to different states of consciousness.

It should be no surprise that a certain focus of attention is prevalent, almost universal, in the world’s religions. For many meditators, they will whole-heartedly agree that there is a pathway to the sacred. And the feeling isn’t subtle, when you have it. And for millennia, people have spent their lifetime, every day, honing these methods.

Many spend their entire life only the surface of their mind. And that is a fine place to have many wonderful experiences and lead a good life.

But we can also begin to explore the inner pathways of your mind, and enjoy the great wealth to be found within your Self.
